Mark of Excellence

National Wind Band Honors Project

Two years ago, Jon Locke and Choice Music Events initiated the Mark of Excellence, and I (Rick Yancey) started the National Wind Band Honors Project. Both are very similar in

intent and structure. We have decided to merge the two. The National Wind Band Honors will

have a few changes, and will be under Choice Music Events/Mark of Excellence banner.

Having been a long time participant in the

Showcase of Music Events and client of

Choice Music Events, I feel that Choice Music Events and the addition of Dick Clardy brings structure, a great staff, experience and efficiency to the project that I could not provide by myself.

National Choral Honors

National Orchestra Honors

Under a similar format to NWBH, Choice Music Events will be recognizing Choirs and Orchestras. Outstanding ensembles are invited to enter.

Mark Camphouse Commission

The NWBH joined a consortium for the commission of a new work by Mark Camphouse. This work will be premiered at the CBDNA (College Band Directors National Association) Western conference in Reno Nevada in March.

Rule changes for 2008

The level one adjudicator advances half of the entries instead of picking the national winners and commended honors on the 1st round. The level two adjudicator will then determine the National and

commended winners. If there are 9 or less entries in a classification, the level one adjudicator will continue to make the final selection. The adjudication will be anonymous.
